Honestly, I think it's time for this show to end, it doesn't make much sense for quite a while now. Yet I keep watching it because they pack it with secrets and you can't help but want to find out what they are. In this episode the latest big secret that was lurking around in the last few weeks has been revealed. There are still a few questions left waiting for an answer, though, which makes you want to watch the next episode. Or does it?
This week the focus was on Chuck's and Nate's investigation to find Jack (supposedly Chuck's real father). As Diana was the key figure in it, it was linked with Nate's attempt to get rid of her and kick her out of the Spectator for once and for all at last. Nate was also working together with Lola (or Serena-light, as Blair was referring to her in one of the scenes) trying to end Serena's days as Gossip Girl. They knew that S was working together with Diana, which meant that getting rid of Diana would help solving this problem as well. This is how everything was connected and eventually brought together the old team of Blair, Chuck, Nate and Serena (seemingly) working towards the same goal.
The outcome of the episode? Serena is no longer Gossip Girl, Dan might have made a stupid mistake, Chuck has found out that her father (the original one) is still alive. Aka more confusion.
As for me I wasn't at all surprised that what, or more precisely, who they were hiding was Chuck's father. But what does this mean regarding the big picture? If he was never dead, which is kind of obvious (the show hasn't turned into a fantasy yet), he is still Lily's husband, so her marriage with Ruphus was never legal. This doesn't really seem to be relevant, since their marriage has already fallen apart. What I'm curious of is who Diana and Jack were waiting for, and of course, why and how Bart faked his death. Seeing that the creators don't want to end the series this season, I don't know if we find the answers in the last two episodes (or ever).
