Hart of Dixie 1x20 - The Race and the Relationship

"You are like the girl of my dreams and the girl I made on my computer all rolled into one".

If I were to summerize this episode in one word I would say: disappointment. Not because of its quality, in fact, it was better than I expected but because pretty much every character was disappointed in someone, Zoe in George, Wade in Zoe, Tansy in Wade and I think we could add that Levon was disappointed in Zoe as well. I just hope that Zoe was disappointed in herself too, because if not then she is incredibly selfish and immature.

It wasn't a happy episode. I felt sorry for almost everyone but was angry with them too. George never was my favourite character, I was quite indifferent toward him, even when it seemed that he would end up with Zoe after all. This and last week's episodes, however, made me dislike him. It is obvious that he was just leading Zoe on and using her to feel better and to hurt Lemon. He knew that eventually he would forgive Lemon (God knows why, though) and knew that he would hurt Zoe, didn't care.
Then here's Zoe. She is generally a likable character but ever since the beginning it was obvious that she was immature and kind of full of herself. Like for example when she was all sadface about not having a single patient at the beginning (yeah it started out as a medical series, anyone remembers?) but didn't do anything about it except whine. She was told several times that her father was taking notes and had everything about his patients written in their folders but she didn't bother to read them only after what seemed to be a lot of episodes. So from the beginning I had my doubts about her. And in these last episodes she was behaving like a teenager. Seriously, this I'm-going-to-win-the-race-so-that-you-will-love-me-forever thing!? What is this, kindergarten? Nevertheless, I felt sorry for her at the end of the episode when Rose's mother was blaming her for something she couldn't see coming. Yes, Rose stated a few times that she had a stomachache but she was nervous so I don't think anyone would think that it was anything serious. And as for the scene in Levon's house when he basically sent Zoe away... didn't make much sense. OK Wade was trying to get over her but they had Tensy right next to Wade when she was trying to get over him. Logic, where are you?
Beside this last scene where I was somewhat angry with Levon, I think in this episode he behaved the most mature way. And Tensy too, she is a simpathetic character, I felt sorry for her. Levon was my favourite character in the first few episodes but this going-after-Lemon-like-a-puppy thing made me a bit dislike him. In this episode, however, as I said, he was cool again. Yay!
What I loved in this episode (and in the whole series) was the secondary characters. Tom Long and his new girlfriend are adorable and Rose was back at last! True that she didn't do anything but make things worse but it wasn't intentional. I really like her cheerful and bubbly character. I will miss the funny secondary characters like them or the waitress in the Rammer Jammer, Magnolia, etc. after the show is over (probably next week). I think I will miss them more than the main characters.
Oh, I  almost forgot about Wade. Poor thing Zoe's a bit kinder to him and he thinks it means something. I can understand why he thought that Zoey was trying to tell her that she was  taking part in the race for him, but in fact Zoey didn't do anything to lead him on, it was just wishful thinking on his part. It was heartbreaking to see him having to watch her confession to George, thought. Then he lost in the race too, wasn't his day.
